The island of Murano is known for its glasswork but its neighboring island, Burano, was known for its lacework. The glassblowers on Murano were so inspired by the intricate patterns that they sought to emulate them in glass through cane work. I've sought to carry on this tradition and push it to the extreme by stretching glass color to its limits to give the appearance of thread suspended within the piece.
